Autonomic Response Testing®

Applied and Clinical Kinesiology/ART
As Used by Dr. Chapdelaine

Dr. Chapdelaine received training in 2001 on Autonomic Response Testing from Dietrich Klinghardt, MD, Ph.D., of the Seattle, Washington Institute of Neurobiology, Inc. Dr. Klinghardt lives and teaches in Seattle, Washington, and is from Germany where he is renowned for his dowsing skills and where he has recently published a bestseller on a topic related to ART. He is one of the world's authorities on mercury toxicity and methods to cleanse the body of it. Dr. Klinghardt is considered by many to be the foremost researcher in muscle testing.

It turns out that the Autonomic Nervous System (ANS), which is our so-called "non-voluntary," or, "fight or flight," nervous system, is the pre-eminent master-control for all functions of the body. Aside from the ANS of the heart (tested through the ECG), ART is a general clinical test for evaluating the ANS.

"Autonomic Response Testing is a new form of kinesiology developed by [Louisa Williams, N.D., D.C. and Dietrich Klinghardt, M.D., Ph.D.] which seeks to marry the techniques and philosophy of Applied and Clinical Kinesiology which originated in the United States, with the European branch of healing called Neural Therapy. . . .Autonomic Response Testing primarily focuses on the assessment of health and/or dysfunction of the autonomic nervous system. It is our belief that the autonomics are the chief regulators of normal and abnormal function of the body and that other nerves are primarily influenced and controlled by autonomic homeostasis (A.R.T., Autonomic Response Testing, Institute of Neurobiology, Inc., 2001, Seattle, WA)."

ART has the potential to diagnose disease weeks, months or years before its clinical manifestation. It is based on sound neurological principles and research - including basic research in anatomy, physiology and neurology - and takes into account many neurological receptors (Meissner's, Pacinian, Ruffini's corpuscles, Merkel's) in explaining the success of the phenomenon. Yet, it goes beyond accessing these receptors in that it "globally" tests the entire body autonomic stress, not just stress at a point. Practically, muscles test "weak" or "strong" based on the examiner's matching a client's muscular resistance to the examiner's force. There are many factors to consider in this technique, not usually appreciated by those who do "muscle testing," in that most people have "blocked regulation," which is a weakness of the ANS that will not allow further testing until cleared. Once this is temporarily cleared (by finding the source of the blockage, often heavy metal, food such as wheat or oats, petroleum solvents etc.) then "switching," (essentially a reversal of the client's electromagnetic energy fields or electron spin) must be tested and temporarily cleared. Only then can the organs and foci of disease processes be tested for and solutions found to bring the body back in balance.

ART works along principles similar to Computerized Electrodermal Screening in that both access and test the acupuncture meridians, working through the ANS.
