WHAT TO EXPECT AT YOUR FIRST APPOINTMENT
After giving Dina your completed Patient History Form, Registration
Form, copies of your lab work from the last six months to a year (if
any), and (if you have insurance) your Insurance Card, you will likely
wait only a minute (sometimes a few minutes) to be seen at your appointment
time. Dr. Chapdelaine will spend approximately 40 minutes to an hour with you
on the first (and sometimes follow up) visits, discussing your Medical
History and the reason(s) you wanted to see him. If you brought vitamins or
supplements you are taking, Dr. Chapdelaine will want to look at those.
Expect handouts regarding diet or mercury dangers or thyroid testing
and others. Expect to be given “homework” such as reading Suzanne
Somers new book, Breakthrough,
or recording your blood pressure or blood sugar for several days (if these
are problems). Expect Dr. Chapdelaine to order blood testing (if it
hasn’t been done for a year or if certain labs are missing). Other
tests are usually targeted to the problems, such as hormonal testing (using
saliva tests which studies show are more accurate than blood tests; for
example, LH and FSH saliva testing is up to 100 times more sensitive than
blood tests).
Do not expect to solve all your medical problems in one visit. In
fact, if you are taking many prescription drugs, then it becomes more
difficult to help you undo the ongoing damage from the drugs, to help you
wean off unnecessary drugs (such as statin drugs, considered by many
knowledgeable doctors to be extremely dangerous and worthless). Dr.
Chapdelaine will help you redirect your pathway toward eating better,
replacing deficient hormones, sleeping better, and taking back your health
from the dependence on symptomatic drugs.
If you are ready to participate in your own health care, then you are
ready to see Dr. Chapdelaine. If necessary, please read Suzanne Somers’
book, Breakthrough, so you
will understand what is going on in the sick care system before making an
appointment.
